Goodwin Keener Cobb III

Age 63, of Newark, DE, passed away on October 20, 2008.

Mr. Cobb graduated from Bel Air High School in Bel Air, MD, Connors College, Northeastern State University in 1967 and earned a Masters of Arts in Organization from the University of Phoenix. He taught at Delaware State School for the Deaf, in Newark, DE and Resource Room Teacher and served as Speech Therapist in Cecil County Public Schools. From 1978- 2003 he was with the Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in Washington, DC where he was the Branch Chief of Planning. He was a member of the Ogletown Baptist Church in Newark, DE a member of Solomon Masonic Lodge #36, Aberdeen Masonic Lodge, Tuscan Royal Arch Chapter, Concordia Council, 32nd Degree, Scottish Rite of Wilmington, DE, York Rite Mason, Eastern Star, and the Boy Scouts. He was founder of the National BIA Very Special Arts Festival, Developed Blue Ribbon Campaign for Prevention of Child Abuse, White House Conference on Indian Education. He served the Ogletown Baptist Church as a Deacon, Bible Study Leader, on the Expansion Committee for the new Multi Purpose Building and founder of Boy Scouts Troop 316. His other interest included auctioneering, crafts, activities with family and grandchildren and many Ministry Projects.

Keener is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paula Cobb; his children, Kizzie Kalityo Cobb, and husband Josh Given and their children Noah and Zoe of Middletown; Goodwin Keener Cobb, IV and wife Maria Cobb and their children Goodwin V and Edward of Newark and Quay Mahkila Cobb of Newark.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 24, from 6-8 pm, in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd. A Masonic Service will take place at 7 pm. The funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday with a viewing at 9 am in the Ogletown Baptist Church, 316 Red Mill Rd., Newark, DE 19713. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, N. Dupont Highway, New Castle.
